November’s Birchbox Review - Disney's 'The Nutcracker'

This year I decided to make more of an effort to try other beauty subscription boxes; Birchbox is one of them! This is my first ever one and I wanted to wait until one called out to me before I placed any orders. This month’s selection, themed with Disney’s ‘The Nutcracker and The Four Realms’, did just that and I felt it was the ideal box to start getting me in the festive mood.

As this is my first ever experience with Birchbox I didn’t know what to expect. I don’t like to do too much research beforehand as I do like the element of surprise when you receive it. It’s so much smaller than any other beauty boxes I’ve received, but don’t let that put you off because I think it’s actually much better this way. Most other beauty boxes are larger in size but this doesn’t always mean the products inside are, so the larger the box the higher your expectation for what’s inside. Sometimes I’ve felt a bit disappointed as the boxes can be misleading as they are packed out with tissue paper and not much product.

This box is perfectly proportioned to fit with the contents inside and I found that quite refreshing and didn’t feel disappointed. I honestly haven’t been a Disney fan for a long time (since I was a little girl) but I can say I am pleasantly surprised and wouldn’t hesitate to order another one as this one is just really lovely.

Diamond Dust (Enchanted)

There were two brands inside who I already absolutely love and the others are all completely new to me, which as I say time and time again is one of the benefits of boxes like this as you're introduced to brands or products you may never have known existed. They are also a really lovely gift for friends or family.

So, here’s a peek at the contents of November’s Birchbox, wonderfully festively themed with Disney’s The Nutcracker and The Four Realms:

Here’s a few more details

  1. Polaar Revitalising Night Cream

Another brand I haven’t come across before but what definitely looks worth a try. I am a bit naughty and don’t always remember to apply a night cream, even when I keep it right next to my bed. There is just something about them that makes my skin feel thick and grimy. Sounds like I haven’t found the right one for me so I have my fingers crossed this one is the key, it’s enriched with ‘boreal algae’ which helps to boost cell renewal and as the skin is more reactive to products when its relaxed I am expecting lovely plump skin when I wake.

  2. Manna Kadar Cosmetics Diamond Dust

A handy rollerball adds a little shimmer and sparkle in easy application over the eyelids, cheeks or even lips. This shade is Enchanted and it’s just so ideal for the upcoming festive season - I cannot wait to use this!

  3. Dr. PAWPAW Original Clear Balm

You may already be familiar with this like I am, but if you aren’t then this is a cruelty free, conscious alternative to Vaseline or petroleum jelly. It’s multi-purpose too, so you can use it on the lips as a soothing and protecting balm, on the hair to tame any flyaways or ‘sticky up bits’ (one of my favourite uses for this actually) and it’s fragrance free which makes it ideal for sensitive skin sufferers like myself.

  4. Marelle BB Cream Illuminator + Primer

A completely new brand and product for me but something I am very excited to try because I swear by BB cream primers for my skin tone. They are one of my favourite things to use on my skin tone as part of my makeup look, I don’t like full, thick coverage and a BB cream is usually ideal for achieving a more natural look; just a little enhancement to what’s already there rather than creating something else! With minimal effort you really only need a few little dots of this over freshly cleansed skin to achieve radiant, healthy looking skin - that’ll do.

  5. Spacemasks Warming Eye Mask

You may already probably be familiar with these gorgeous eye-masks, but if you aren’t then let me tell you they are such a treat and are the perfect addition to any pamper-sesh. They are, as the title explains, self-heating which means as soon as you place the mask over your eyes the mask begins to warm and you can lay back and enjoy a quite unusual, but truly unwinding sensation. I can’t rate these highly enough and am so happy to find one in this month’s box.
