Hurrah For Happy Hair Days!
…and it’s all thanks to a little orange velvet scrunchie and if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know what I’m talking about. I never really thought I’d entertain the idea of hair accessories to be honest, but my hair is quite high maintenance and if there’s a way to still keep it looking cute without needing to do much to it, I’m all ears - hair accessories are a fantastic way of doing just that.
Right now, there are tons of trends which I’m assuming have been sitting in a time machine, because they’re making their way back into our lives - I’m reliving my early 90’s self in scrunchies, hairbands, clips and slides and I can’t say I’m hating it.
As I mentioned, my hair is high maintenance. It’s coloured and needs all the heat styling it can get to keep it under control, you’d never think it but it’s 100% true and for that reason, days off from any styling at all are very important and adding a pretty hairband or scrunchie into the mix and you’d never even know.
Scrunchies & Ties

I ‘m taking it back, way back with these aren’t I?
I can’t think of a decent reason why I dismissed the idea of a scrunchie for so long, maybe I thought they are just a little bit too childish, but honestly these are incredible for keeping your hair up and not snagging when you pull it free. I’m too familiar with that sharp, tugging pain from hair being caught up in a hair tie and with a scrunchie you get none of that. It looks way prettier, your hair doesn’t get caught up and they are just so cute. I’m a fan of the scrunch and think I will be for some time.
Clips & Slides
I know, grips, clips, slips, slides - it all gets a little bit overwhelming. All I will say is this: pearls.
Little, tiny pearls all neatly arranged on a hair slide and oh my goodness, just how pretty is that? I remember slides like this in my younger days and I am really quite pleased they’re back! There is no interesting way to tie your hair back sometimes and even if it doesn’t quite look the way you’d want it to, a cheeky little accessory like this is a guaranteed win I think.
Grips / Claws

Pun incoming: I’ve got to get a grip (on my hair that is).
As I’ve said many times, my hair just does not behave itself. As much as I can dream, it’s never going to be the kind of hair you can just shove up and it look okay - because it really doesn’t. I do struggle to find something which keeps hair in place for a long time and this particular style of grip means business. Because it’s made from metal, it keeps a really firm hold of the hair and you can style it messily (which I’ve done on the left) and it stays put, or you can neaten it up (like I’ve done on the right) and it works either way!
Head & Hairbands

Now - I do have some mixed thoughts about this.
As much as I love an all in one stretchy headband - they ping off my head. I’ve tried to secure them with hairclips, but as the day goes on that little headband does it’s best to disappear backwards and leave the party. So, I’ve decided to move on to the perhaps more obvious option of a solid headband which sits behind the ears - why didn’t I think of this sooner. If you have any suggestions about keeping the stretchier headband in place, I’m listening!
